Association between Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Exposure and Diarrhea in Adults

چکیده
Objective: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are not only natural but also anthropogenic contaminants that exist in many places the environment. Human beings often accidentally ingest PAHs via smoking. Furthermore, smoking may increase risk of bowel disorder, including diarrhea and other gastrointestinal problems. Therefore, PAH exposure is hypothesized to be related risk. This study discusses association between United States adult population. Method: 10,537 participants from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES 2001–2006) were involved this cross-sectional analysis. Bowel disorders assessed examination stool frequency type. The concentrations urinary metabolites used evaluate exposure. habits was using a multivariate logistic regression model with covariate assessment gender, age, race, liver function, kidney common chronic health diseases. Results: All except 1-hydroxynaphthalene, 1-hydroxypyrene, 9-hydroxyfluorene substantially correlated an increased (p < 0.05) after modification relevant covariables. revealed significant group females 0.05). all 2-hydroxyphenanthrene, show significantly positive non-obesity (BMI 30, p Conclusions: highly associated among population States, especially female populations. More research necessary shed light on pathophysiological mechanisms diarrhea.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon selected galaxies
Context. This is the fourth in a series of papers based on the ISOCAM Parallel Survey at 6.7 μm. While the first three papers have been devoted to active galactic nuclei (AGN), here we report on emission-line galaxies without AGN signatures in their optical spectra. Aims. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission has been found in both starbursts and modestly starforming galaxies, but the ...
متن کاملBiological effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon derivatives.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are included in various environmental pollutants such as airborne particles and have been reported to induce a variety of toxic effects. On the other hand, PAH derivatives are generated from PAHs both through chemical reaction in the atmosphere and metabolism in the body.PAH derivatives have become known for their specific toxicities such as estrogenic/an...
متن کاملPolycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Far-infrared Spectroscopy
The far-IR characteristics of astrophysically relevant polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) averaging in size around 100 carbon atoms have been studied using the theoretical spectra in the NASA Ames PAH IR Spectroscopic Database. These spectra were calculated using density functional theory. Selections of PAH species are made, grouped together by common characteristics or trends, such as siz...
متن کاملChronic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon exposure causes DNA damage and genomic instability in lung epithelial cells
Cell exposure to atmospheric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is closely associated with DNA damage and genomic instability. We assessed the mechanisms of chronic and acute PAH exposure-induced genotoxicity in two human lung epithelial cell lines, A549 and NC-H1975. We sampled atmospheric PAHs at the Xixi Campus, Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China during August (non-haze episode) and...
متن کاملPolycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) Exposure and DNA Adduct Semi-Quantitation in Archived Human Tissues
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are combustion products of organic materials, mixtures of which contain multiple known and probable human carcinogens. PAHs occur in indoor and outdoor air, as well as in char-broiled meats and fish. Human exposure to PAHs occurs by inhalation, ingestion and topical absorption, and subsequently formed metabolites are either rendered hydrophilic and excret...
